Ruben Ostlund, writer-director of previous film “Force Majeure,” once again satirizes the fragile male ego, but with a more ambitious scope: the world of modern art. On the verge of announcing a new installation meant to foster urban empathy, a director becomes over-invested in personally catching the thieves who stole his wallet. A disastrous marketing campaign launches in his absence, while other exhibits fail in spectacular fashion. The film was the Palme d’Or winner at the Cannes Film Festival. The AV Club said, “Withering insights… impeccable farce…can execute a gag with steel-trap precision. The museum itself is an absurdist goldmine, facilitating jokes worthy of Jacques Tati.”
