1. Dicken's Holiday and Kringle's Christmas Village in Antioch

Transport the mind to Olde England when you visit downtown Antioch to see the Dickens Holiday and Kringle's Christmas Villages. Dicken’s Holiday Village features wax life-size mannequins that wear British Victorian-era clothing. The exhibition is highlighted by characters and scenes from Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” Kringle’s Christmas Village features dozens of shadowboxes that display miniature holiday scenes. The Antioch holiday staple also showcases a shadowbox scene with a Dicken’s Holiday Village theme. The Christmas Tree Decorating is new this year. In this year’s edition of the free exhibit, various community members and organizations decorate unique arbors in the new Christmas Tree decorating. Both displays are in the Piggly Wiggly Plaza. When visiting the exhibits, shop up and down the streets of downtown Antioch holiday for gifts, and stick around for a bite to eat. Kringle’s Christmas and Dicken's Holiday Villages run through January 1, 2023.

2. Santa's Rock N Lights at the Lake County Fairgrounds and Event Center

Drive through over one mile of lighted displays, all synced up to holiday jingles at Santa’s Rock N Lights. The Lake County Fairgrounds and Event Center drive-thru light show features nearly 1,000 feet of dancing lights. Take in the sights of illuminated reindeer, polar bears, emojis and dinosaurs. This year’s installment introduces a Pop Up Village which features larger-than-life displays, ample photo opportunities, axe throwing, face painting, photos with Kris Kringle and ornament making. The Grayslake event provides food trucks and free hot chocolate. Attendees must purchase tickets early to secure their time slot at SantasRockNLights.com. Due to the popularity of this lighted extravaganza, tickets regularly sell out. Santas’s Rock N Lights runs through January 1, 2023.

3. Snowland at Great Wolf Lodge Illinois in Gurnee

Snow showers and twinkling lights transform Great Wolf Lodge Illinois into the magical Snowland. 4. Vintage Holidays in Historic Downtown Long Grove

Historic Downtown Long Grove invites you to rediscover the magic of the winter season with its Vintage Holidays fest. The annual holiday campaign celebrates the classic small-town feel you find with the shops, classic winter aesthetic and family memories. Festivities include horse-drawn carriage rides, fare, live performances, visits from Santa Claus and more. People who spend $150 or more in Historic Downtown Long Grove shops and eateries receive a complimentary gift from participating businesses. Individuals interested in carriage rides can register online at LongGrove.org. Historic Downtown Long Vintage Days go through December 18.

5. Richardson Christmas Tree Farm in Spring Grove

Head to Richardson Christmas Tree farm to pick out the perfect holiday centerpiece. Venture out into the groves on the free wagon ride, select a tree and cut it down with the provided handsaw. Place a reservation tag on your prized tree and the crew will prepare it for transport by shaking off loose needle tips and baleing it in plastic netting. Guests can wait inside Richardson’s heated barn sipping on complimentary hot chocolate or coffee. Browse their selections of donuts, jams, jellies, popcorn and sweet treats. Shop for holiday home décor such as wreaths, garlands, and bows all of which were made by the Richardson family. The farm also offers pre-cut Fraser and Canaan fir trees for pickup. Richardson Christmas Tree Farm is openthrough December 11. Friday-Sunday, November 25-27; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Admission: free. Trees and various activities will cost extra.
