The end of the week is full of experiences that will keep you dancing, eating and shopping local. Here are the things to do this weekend July 29-31, 2022.

Take the opportunity to visit Volo Museum and Jurassic Gardens. They have a great offer on admission and kids will adore the dinosaurs.

1. Lake County Fair Celebrates 93 Years

The Lake County Fair celebrates 93 years this weekend in Grayslake. “Summer’s Best Fest” features myriad entertainment including demolition derbies, motocross, monster trucks, Taste of the Fair, 4-H demonstrations, livestock judging, bloody mary and beer tent bingo, Miss Lake County Fair Queen Pageant, Canine Star Stunt Dog Show, the Midway Carnival, talent contest and various kid-friendly activities. The Lake County Fairgrounds and Event Center party also is highlighted by live music acts, local rock band Six Speed Tranny, Libido Funk Circus, Chapel Hill Band, Zydeco Voodoo Band and more. Guests can buy admission for one day or season passes for multi-day attendance. Carnival ride tickets cost one dollar or visitors can get an unlimited ride band for $25. Parking is free, but patrons can opt for $10 preferred parking. Visit LCFair.com for a complete list of events, activities and fees.

Friday-Sunday, July 29-31; Fri.-Sat.: 10 a.m.-midnight., Sun.: 10 a.m.- 7 p.m. Admission: $5-$55, free admission for kids ages five and under. Unlimited Ride bands: $25. Parking: free-$10. Food, beverages and souvenirs cost extra. Lake County Fairgrounds, 1060 E. Peterson Rd., Grayslake.

2. Taste of Six Flags: Party After Dark

Bon Appetit at the Taste of Six Flags: Party After Dark. Visit the Gurnee amusement park this weekend to sample the best bites Great America has to offer. Menu fare includes regional options from the East Coast to Jamaican street food, Texas to Midwest cuisine, West Coast and California dishes and desserts. The beer trailer serves sample-size and full cups. The Taste package purchase includes an event lanyard, access to the VIP area, a 12-credit punch food card and thrill on select coasters and rides for event attendees. The foodie fest as is highlighted by a DJ, live music and street performers. This delicious event is an additional admission cost on top of a valid form of park entry. 3. Esperanza Spalding at Ravinia Festival

Esperanza Spalding returns to Ravinia Festival Sunday after debuting at the Highland Park staple a decade ago. Watch as the jazz bassist puts her lyrical talents and instrument skills on display. Spalding works to harness vibration, sound and presence to transmit care and beauty to her audiences. The Seattle-based musician appears in the inaugural “Breaking Barriers Festival” celebrating women in classical and modern minstrels, and she performs alongside Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Spalding is an artist, composer and performer who has won multiple Grammy Awards including in 2011 for New Artist and most recently in 2022 for Jazz Vocal Album. Monsieur Periné, a Colombian Bogotá ensemble takes the stage as well. Visit Ravinia.org for the full schedule of the festival. 4. Deerfield Farmers Market

Farm fresh ingredients and locally made merchandise are on sale at the Deerfield Farmers Market every Saturday. The weekly community market also features live music, various civic groups, activities for the kids and other special events. The market embraces “food, friends and fun.” The Deerfield Farmers Market is located at Park Avenue between Jewett Park Drive and Hazel Avenue. The market opens at 7 a.m. and admission is free. The locally grown, fresh food market runs Saturdays through October 15.

Saturday, July 30; 7 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Free admission. Downtown Deerfield, Park Avenue between Jewett Park Drive and Hazel Avenue, Deerfield.

5. Gospelfest at Greenbelt Cultural Center

Visit the Greenbelt Cultural Center in North Chicago this Saturday for Gospelfest. The Lake County Forest Preserve District event is a free experience headlined by New Vizion from Washington, D.C., and features a solo performance by Waukegan resident Vernilli Pipes. There are other surprise artists gracing the stage throughout the evening. Visitors are advised to arrive early as seating is limited. Concertgoers are advised to bring a picnic dinner. A local vendor is onsite serving fare at the performance.

Sunday, July 31; 3-7 p.m. Free admission. Greenbelt Cultural Center, 1215 Green Bay Rd., North Chicago.
