You'll find so much to see and do in Lake County, Illinois that you'll want to stay for a few days.  For lodging information, see our Hotel Page and be sure to visit our coupon page for great deals around Lake County!  To request a free copy of our Lake County, Illinois Visitors Planning Guide, continue here.  While on base, we encourage you to visit the Great Lakes Naval Museum which showcases the rich history of the United States Navy.  In addition, to utilize Navy Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) facilities and services while on base, continue here. You may also want to stay an extra day and travel to Chicago where you can visit Navy Pier, the Magnificent Mile, world-class museums and much more.  Getting to downtown Chicago is easy by train.  For a copy of the train schedule to downtown Chicago, continue here.

Lake County, Illinois is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  The closest airports to the Great Lakes Naval Station are O'Hare International Airport and General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee.  Another alternative is Midway International Airport located 46 miles from Great Lakes.  Continental Airport Express provides shuttle service from O'Hare or Midway airport to Lake County.
