"Please extend my thank you to everyone involved in making our reunion a great success!  The hotel, the Navy base, Cuneo museum and Opa restaurant.  The accomadations were excellent at the Holiday Express Vernon Hills.  Our day at the Base was great, everyone enjoyed the graduation, the speaker was an Admiral and this was his last offical duty before he retired.  He broke down during his speech and that got to everyone, also the ship’s reunion was recognized at the graduation. "The USS Knapp DD-653 Association just completed the best reunion in recent memory, and it all started when I contacted Kimberly Ghys of your office. After my original contact, she gathered proposals from eleven hotels and resorts in Lake County which were sent to me to start the selection process. We narrowed the list to four and then Kimberly arranged a site inspection tour and after visiting all four, we selected the Marriott Suites in Deerfield which turned out to be an excellent choice.  The Graduation ceremony on the base was awesome and very moving for these old sailors who went through “boot camp” there some 60 years ago.
