MAKING THEIR LONG-AWAITED RAVINIA FESTIVAL DEBUT, MAROON 5 PERFORMS TWO SOLD-OUT SHOWS JUNE 30 AND JULY 1

Superstar violinist Joshua Bell joins his alma mater to celebrate the centennial of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music

Rock band Maroon 5 makes its highly anticipated Ravinia debut at 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, with a second show on Friday, July 1. With popular hits including She Will Be Loved, Makes Me Wonder and This Love, the band has garnered numerous awards, from Billboard Music Award for Digital Artist of the Year to three Grammys®, including Best New Artist. Both shows are completely sold out. R & B singer and Grammy Award-winning writer and producer PJ Morton will open for Maroon 5 both nights. Superstar violinist Joshua Bell, who earned his artist diploma from Indiana University, takes the stage for the Ravinia premiere of Bruchs Scottish Fantasy, a lyrical celebration of Scottish folktunes and violin virtuosity, along with the IU Jacobs School of Music Summer Festival Orchestra led by Michael Stern. This performance at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, also features Dukas's L'apprenti sorcier (The Sorcerer's Apprentice), Stravinsky's Suite from The Firebird and Schumann's arrangement of Ives's Variations on America and celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Jacobs School of Music. This concert also features a ticket and dining package for a special price of $60. Arrival from Sweden, a tribute band that performs The Music of ABBA, returns at 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 3. As Sweden's most acclaimed cover band, Arrival is the largest touring ABBA show in the world, having visited more than 20 countries.

Ravinia's summer music conservatory, the Steans Music Institute, brings together talented young musicians from around the world to make music coached by an internationally renowned faculty. At 2 p.m. on Friday, July 1, piano and strings artists will present a free concert in Bennett Gordon Hall. Prior to the Joshua Bell concert on Saturday, July 2, Steans musicians will appear in a preview concert at 5:15 p.m. in Bennett Gordon Hall. This concert is free with a paid entry for the mainstage show. Ravinia's Kraft Great Kids Concert series continues at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, with Tom Chapin & Friends. Named one of the greatest personalities in contemporary folk music by the New York Times and the best family artist around by Billboard magazine, Chapin has the ability to engage and entertain children and adults alike. Five of his family recordings have received Grammy Award nominations for Best Musical Album for Children, including the release Some Assembly Required. Ralph's World is a real rock'n'roll concert for the whole family featuring a musical foursome led by creator Ralph Covert. This Grammy-nominee has eight albums on Disney, the newest All Around Ralph's World on BarNone, over a dozen music videos, four books for kids, and several successful children's musicals since the creation of Ralph's World's at Chicago's The Old Town School of Folk Music a decade ago. They appear at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 3, as part of Ravinia's Kraft Great Kids Concert series. Ravinia Festival is located at Lake Cook and Green Bay roads in Highland Park, IL.
