Lambs Farm to Host Snowshoeing Special Olympics
Libertyville, Illinois - The winter is upon us, so let the snowshoeing begin. Lambs Farm is one of three locations in Illinois hosting the 2011 Special Olympics Snowshoeing competition on January 8, 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
After redistricting and relocating, Lambs Farm is looking forward to hosting its first snowshoeing competition. The Participants are excited to have the event on campus because they feel more involved being hosts, says Kreig Alm, Recreation Manager. Athletes will come from Lake and McHenry counties with their regulated size snowshoes ready to compete in the following events: 50M, 100M, 200M and 400M. The races will take place on the 400- meter track in an open field behind the Founders Building.
If the weather is too cold, athletes, staff, parents, spectators, and volunteers can keep warm in Lambs Gym, inside the Founders Building. Lunch and snacks will be sold in the gym to keep the athletes fueled up for the competition. A final awards ceremony will be held subsequent to the contest.
