Lake County Welcomes 2013 BMW Golf Championship

Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Illinois will host the top men's PGA players for the 2013 BMW Golf Championship, September 9 - 15, 2013. More than 120,000 spectators and attendees are expected to visit during this third leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs to watch golfers Luke Donald, Rory Mcllroy, Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson, Tiger Woods and more. Lake County is excited to have the opportunity to host the BMW Championship for the first time since 1972.

Conway Farms Golf Club is a Tom Fazio award-winning course that sits on 209 acres in Lake Forest, Illinois and is designed around the traditions of Scottish links golf. Conway Farms is dedicated to the protection and preservation of the game, encouraging walking, fast play and the support of amateur golf. Over the years, the club has hosted the 2012 US Mid-Amateur Championship, 2009 Western Amateur, 2008 US Open Sectional Qualifying and the 2007 Open Qualifier.

Bittersweet Golf Club
Bittersweet Golf Club in Gurnee is a challenging and scenic 18-hole golf course that offers the public a fantastic practice facility with a lighted driving range and natural grass tees. There are PGA golf instructors on staff to help improve your game.


Bonnie Brook Golf Course
Bonnie Brook Golf Course in Waukegan is one of the most popular public courses in Lake County, boasting a meticulously manicured 18-hole course with rolling, wooded terrain. Its natural, picturesque landscape offers golfers the ability to enjoy tree-lined fairways, spacious greens, small lakes and the beauty of the north branch of the Waukegan River, which flows gently throughout the course. With a course length of 6,701 yards, Bonnie Brook offers championship golfers a solid test while being friendly and forgiving to the high handicappers.


Brae Loch Golf
Brae Loch Golf in Grayslake is part of the Lake County Forest Preserves. This fun, challenging 18-hole, par-70 course features mature tees and sweeping vistas.


Countryside Golf Club
At Countryside Golf Club in Mundelein, play two challenging, award-winning 18-hole golf courses. The Prairie course, with bentgrass tees, wide-open greens and sand bunkers offers golfers a chance to challenge their game. The Traditional course, with bentgrass tees and tree-lined fairways, offers golfers scenic and challenging rounds of golf.


Crane's Landing Golf Course
Crane's Landing Golf Course at Lincolnshire Marriott Resort has welcomed golfers for many years and is known as the Premier Destination for golf in Illinois. Crane's Landing offers destination golfers the array of challenges the beautiful 18-hole course is known for. This course is situated on 110 acres of preserved woodlands with stunning views of the Des Plaines Rivers. Crane's Landing is a par 70, 6,290 yard course.


Greenshire Golf Course
Greenshire Golf Course in Beach Park is a well-maintained par 27, 9 hole course, with holes ranging from 100 yards to 210 yards. With the course length being 1,265 yards, Greenshire will test the best golfer's short game and provides a course for all skill levels to enjoy.


Lake Bluff Golf Club
The Lake Bluff Park Districts's course, the Lake Bluff Golf Club, is an 18-hole, 6,589 yard course with challenging greens set in a tranquil environment. The course features mature tree-lined fairways and with bent grass for an enjoyable playing experience.


Shepherd's Crook Golf Course
Shepherd's Crook Golf Course in the beautiful City of Zion, is an 18-hole par 72 public golf facility that has earned rave reviews as a course that is both challenging and exciting to play. Its design reflects the golden era of golf course architecture of the 1920's and 30's with bentgrass fairways, tees and greens.


Thunderhawk Golf Club
Thunderhawk Golf Club is part of the Lake County Forest Preserves. This public golf facility, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., is one of the most challenging courses in the Chicago area. This 18-hole par 72 golf course is nestled on 241 acres of beautiful forest, marsh and prairie. This is the first public course in the United States to achieve Audubon Signature Sanctuary certification. Thunderhawk Golf Club was rated as a "Best Course You Can Play" by Golfweek 2012.


Vernon Hills Golf Course
The Vernon Hills Golf Course is ranked as one of the top ten 9 hole golf courses in Chicagoland. This challenging 9-hole course boasts small greens, rolling terrain, tight fairways and seven holes featuring water. Golfers of all skill levels will appreciate both the playability and eye-catching views.


White Deer Run
Built on the well-known Cuneo Estate in Vernon Hills, White Deer Run Golf Club is an 18-hole public course sprawling over 240 acres of rolling terrain and picturesque lakes with bent grass greens and fairways.


Willow Glen Golf Club
The Willow Glen Golf Club is home to a picturesque 18-hole layout that provides an enjoyable challenge for all skill levels. This course is situated right outside of Naval Station Great Lakes. The clubhouse is home to "Buckley's", Willow Glen's restaurant and lounge, which features delicious specialty sandwiches, burgers, salads and otehr items that will satisfy your appetite after a round of golf.
