Pumpking Patch1.) Pumpkin Fest in Libertyville Saturday, October 18, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Celebrate October with pumpkin themed activities and fun for the family entertainment. Bring a can of food for the Cool food pantry and get a pumpkin. A highlight of this event is Touch the Trucks, presented by Cook Memorial Library. Stroll through streets upon streets lined with a world record amount of jack-o-lanterns display and see a magical sight as they light up at night!  Watch the parade in costume and even register for the pumpkin run 5K!  Cook Park & Downtown Libertyville, Downtown Libertyville

2.) Waukegan’s 4th Annual ZombieWauk and ArtWauk. Saturday, October 18, 2 p.m. – Midnight.  Start at Green Town Tavern at 2 p.m., and continue on bike or walk to enjoy Zombie drink specials, unique art, live entertainment and a Zombie costume contest. Finish the night with Zombie Prom at Green Town Tavern until 12 a.m. Jack Benny Plaza, Genesee Street, Waukegan

3.) The Great Highwood Pumpkin Festival highwood pumpkin festFriday, October 17, 4 – 9 p.m., Saturday, Oct.18, 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. & Sunday, October 19, 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. This three day event has vendors galore, live music, hay rides, pony rides, pumpkin carving stations, massive pumpkin displays, nightly pumpkin lightings, a parade, 5K/10K Pumpkin run and so much more. 3.)  9th Annual Lambs Farm Barn Burner BBQ Friday, October 17, 5 – 10 p.m. & Saturday, October 18, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Watch as teams compete for Grand Champion title and the chance to compete at national events. Free to observe and ask the competitors your BBQ questions! Enjoy live music, delicious food and family fun.  Lambs Farm, 14245 W Rockland Rd., Libertyville

4.) Trains, Tricks and Treats at Chicago Botanic Garden Saturday, October 18 & Sunday, October 19, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Trick-or-treat throughout the Model Railroad Garden and celebrate Halloween with a festive train display including spider webs, spiders, ghosts, goblins, and pumpkins. 5.) Fright Fest at Six Flags Great America, Thru November 2, Fridays, 5 – 11 p.m., Saturdays, 11 a.m. – Midnight, Sundays, 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. sixflagscollageIt’s thrills by day and chills by night at Fright Fest’s biggest celebration ever.  Bring kiddos for the day to enjoy family fun rides and less scary entertainment and then ride coasters in the dark, enjoy a live show, or explore one of 6 terrifying haunted houses.  Step right up and conquer Goliath before the year ends!  And don't be surprised to see a creepy ghoul or cursed witch waiting around the corner, just ready to jump out and give you a scream! 6.) Haunted House Season Lake County is home to some of the highest rated haunted houses in the region including Dungeon of Doom and the Realm of Terror.  Celebrate the scariest season with these classics or get a scare on at House of Macabre in Antioch or the Carnival of Chaos Haunted House in Mundelein.

7.) Third Annual Itty Bitty Pumpkin Patch Saturday, October 18, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. This is a great way for young kids to celebrate Halloween.  There's no reason they can't get in on some of the spooky fun around Lake County this year!  Roll up those Halloween costume sleeves and get ready to decorate pumpkins safely with paint, stickers and glitter at this free event.  You won't have to worry about carving knives or sharp edges at this event.  Take home your decorated pumpkin and some candy too!
