The holidays are here and it's the most wonderful time of the year. Everything is going on this year from Community tree lighting ceremonies, Black Friday and Small Business Saturday shopping to the Vernon Hills Winter Wonderland Holiday Light Show and Chicago Botanic Wonderland Express. There is always something to to in Lake County. Here are our things to do this weekend November 28 - 30. 1.) Antioch's Annual Christmas Parade and Santa's Enchanted Village Opening Friday, November 28, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Welcome Santa and the Holiday Season with an old-fashioned parade through Downtown Antioch. Then head over to the Village Hall for the annual tree lighting and opening of Santa’s Enchanted Village where the little ones can visit with Santa. Don’t miss the Dickens Holiday Village public art exhibit while strolling among the delightful streets of Antioch. Free. Downtown Antioch

Vernon Hills Winter Wonderland Holiday Light Show 2.) Winter Wonderland Holiday Light Show November 28 through January 3, 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. Gather up the family, hop in the car and visit the Northern Illinois' largest drive-through Holiday Light Festival held on the grounds of Cuneo Mansion. View thousands of twinkling lights, animated displays and holiday decorations. Cost is $5 per car Monday through Thursday and $10 Friday through Sunday. Open daily except Christmas Eve & Day. IMG_09543.) Wonderland Express at the Chicago Botanic Garden November 28 through January 4. Take a magical trip to a winter wonderland of twinkling lights and holiday beauty at the Chicago Botanic Garden. Outside, 750,000 lights sparkle in the Garden's wonderland. Inside the Regenstein Center, a 10,000-square-foot exhibition of miniature trains winds over bridges, under trestles, past waterfalls, and through more than 80 mini-replicas of Chicago's favorite landmarks. Open daily except Christmas Day. Chicago Botanic Garden, 1000 Lake Cook Road, Glencoe.

Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremonis4.) Lake County Tree Lighting Ceremonies Lake County communities’ tree lightings will start this weekend with parades, caroling, Santa appearances and holiday family fun! VisitLakeCounty.org has all the details you need about upcoming tree lightings and events for the holiday season.

5.) Step by Step Holiday Arts and Craft Show, Lake County Fairgrounds Saturday and Sunday, November 29 – November 30, Start the holiday shopping with a bang at this annual holiday show. With over 300 booths of handmade arts and crafts, unique gifts, fine art, floral items, country themed merchandise and more, there is something for everyone on the list.
