Remember folks, before you get out there this weekend, we want you to show us your musical talents with our I Love Lake County Song Search. Our Ultimate Grand Prize winner will receive $1000 and other great prizes, while our Fan Vote winner will receive $500 and a performance at Mickey Finn’s in Libertyville.
Lake County has a lot of things going on this weekend for you to enjoy. As we prepare for more daylight and head into March, this is what Lake County has for you this weekend!
1.) The party has returned to Libertyville. From March to December, First Fridays on Main Street Libertyville is always a fan favorite. Saunter downtown to get a taste of Libertyville’s mouth-watering grub, the distinguished shops, special promotions and tunes to dance to. There’s a party in downtown Libertyville and everyone’s invited!
Friday March 6, 6-9 p.m. 2.) You should uncork the wine that is sitting in the cabernet. The Byron Colby Barn in Grayslake is hosting its Fourth Annual Uncorked! Wine Tasting. To complement the fantastic fermented fruit drinks, The Grayslake barn will also provide beer, hors d’oeuvres, a raffle, silent and live music featuring the band 2 Thumbs Up and Medleys in Motion DJ Service.

3.) Are you psyched to take a dip in the drink? Make an early splash at Breezewald Park & Beach in Lake Zurich as they host their Relay for Life event: The Purple Polar Plunge. Collect your pledges and take a dive in together while sporting costumes, signs and any other fun garb while friends and family cheer on your brave souls. Registration begins at 9 a.m.

4.) ‘Take Five,’ as you ‘Take the A Train,’ to James Lumber Center because the United States Army Field Band Jazz Ambassadors will make you ‘Jump Jive ‘n Wail.’ This 19-person ensemble has been established since 1969 and still performs America’s original art form gracefully. The concert is free, but tickets are required. Sit down and have a listen, because ‘It Don’t Mean a Thing, If It Ain’t Got That Swing!’

5.) Searching for a day to explore all of mom and pop shops in the area? The Fox Lake Chamber Fest at Grant Community High School will showcase as many as 85 businesses. This Fest will include family fun like line dancing, Princess Cabaret, Youth Dance Teams, martial arts demonstration, and other festivities. Also the Taste of Fox Lake is being expanded in this year’s edition!
