We are only 2 weekends away from Christmas! Yes, I said it and you read that correctly. Don't freak out about that Christmas shopping, instead r-e-l-a-x with these 5 family fun things to do this weekend. Decorate a Nautical Ornament at the Great Lakes Naval Museum Saturday, December 13, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Visit the Great Lakes Naval Museum and have the kids create a nautical-themed holiday ornament. Dickens of a Holiday in Libertyville Saturday, December 13, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Bring the children out for a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus in picturesque Cook Park. Then the children can shop at the Children's Holiday Shop (located in Petranek's Pharmacy). Elves assist them in picking out gifts, priced from $1-$5, for everyone on their lists. The gifts are then wrapped and ready to be put under the tree. Downtown Libertyville.

Stop at the 14 outdoor displays with life size figures depicting scenes from the Dickens’ Era. Meet Antioch's Real Canine Oliver and enjoy the Dickens Dog Costume Contest, social and parade. Downtown Antioch Grayslake Historical Society Hosts Holiday Open House Sunday, December 14, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. The Grayslake Heritage Center will be open for an afternoon of fun family activities including, visits with Jolly Old Saint Nick and the Mrs., music of the season, holiday treats and a children’s craft activity.
