Things to do this weekend September 4-7

It’s the day that everyone gets to be lazy all on the same day. Labor Day. Time to kick back relax and enjoy some well-deserved time off.
Many of the kids are returning their school, and they’ll get their first taste of what a great day off feels like. There are many activities to do including Buffalo Grove Days 2015.
We’re in this rat race spinning and spinning trying to grab that hunk of cheese. Let’s all take a break as we look at this extended weekend’s things to do this weekend September 4-7.
- All Labor Day weekend, Zion is throwing their 67th Annual Jubilee Days Festival. The festivities kick off with the annual 5K run Saturday morning and the fun continues until Monday night. This event includes a Miss Zion pageant, ice cream social, arts & crafts festival, live music, delectable eats, the Mayors Breakfast, the largest Lake County Labor Day parade – the Jubilee Parade and fireworks.
Saturday-Monday, September 5-7; Saturday: 8 a.m., Sunday 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Monday 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Shiloh Park, 25th Street and Emmaus Avenue, Zion.
- Ready to celebrate Deutschland American style? Oktoberfest has arrived in Long Grove. Join Long Grove as they celebrate heritage by enjoying authentic German cuisine, Oktoberfest beer tents, live entertainment that feature German bands, free hayrides, an antique tractor show and more. The Long Grove festival will occur for the next two weeks as well.

- Downtown Libertyville invites one and all to their monthly celebration of First Fridays on MainStreet. Good eats, good drinks and fine live performances will be playing as you peruse the mom and pop stores with promotional sales for you. Be there or be square!
Friday, June 5; 6-9 p.m., Downtown Libertyville Rt. 121, Libertyville.
- Make your way out for a night back to taste some car nostalgia, as Miller’s Dog N Suds Drive is hosting the Classic Car Cruise Night. The season opener of these classic car displays will feature a live broadcast of WRLR Radio and rides that are from 1973 or older. Enjoy a tasty dog from Miller’s Dog N Suds Drive In and watch the show from the picnic area or bring a lawn chair.
Saturday, September 5; 6:30-9:30 p.m. Miller’s Dog N Suds Drive In, 517 Washington St., Ingleside.
- Bring the family out for a matinee performance of the Tempel Lipizzans set to classical music. The program follows the Tempel Lipizzans through varying stages of development and training. The cafe is open for meals starting at noon for the Matinee performance. Enjoy watching young foals guided by their mothers as they progress through carriage driving and training, flying horse movements and a four-horse ballet. After the show visit the Tempel stables and meet these muscle-bound and majestic equines.
