Things to do this Weekend July 17-19

By: Jonathan Jones 07/14/2015

This has been an uncharacteristically cool summer. Some might be a fan of that, but as a Midwesterner, I enjoy the humidity so I can chillax on the Illinois State Beach Park jump off one of the docks at Chain O’Lakes.

We are also nearing the 87th Annual Lake County Fair. Only two more weeks! However until the Grayslake party begins, there are summer celebrations going on in Lake County. Here are the top things to do this weekend July 17-19.

Bandshell compressed1.)    How about a little fun in the sun in Antioch? The Taste of Summer Festival in Antioch features carnival rides for the family, deliciously prepared eats from the village’s top restaurant, splendid merch from the area’s sidewalk sale and of course exceptional live acts for you and the family in the Brook Bandshell including Bella Cain, Hi Infidelity, Suburban Cowboys and BBI.

Friday-Sunday July 17-19; Friday:12-11pm, Saturday: 12-11pm, Sunday: 12-6pm  Downtown Antioch

2.)    After a weekend full of fun at Scoop Waukegan, come on back this weekend to fill your artistic void with the monthly ArtWauk. Enjoy the work from many different art modems. In addition to the portraits, sculptures and other different artistic vibes, munch on some delicious eats in Downtown Waukegan or feel the flow of the tunes from the live entertainment at this free event.

Summer CelebrationSaturday, July 18; 5-10 p.m. Genesee Street, Downtown Waukegan.

3.)    All weekend, fall in love with your favorite season all over again during  Vernon Hills  Summer Celebration 2015. Have a bite to eat, take a ride on a carnival ride and enjoy an abundance of live entertainment from headliner Lonestar and a Sunday show from Kaleidoscope Eyes. Compete in the bags tournament on Sunday or just gaze upon pristine vessels at the car show on Saturday.

Friday-Sunday, July 17-19 Friday: 6pm-12am, Saturday: 1pm-12am, Sunday: 1-10pm. Century Park, 1101 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills.

Alpine Fest4.)    This family fun fiesta will bring back all the things people love: Alpine Fest in Lake Zurich. There will be live entertainment, events, carnival rides and activities for the young patrons. In addition to the things to do for all ages, there will be some of the best food in Lake County. Enjoy the Alpine Fest Parade downtown Lake Zurich. Admission is free.

Friday-Sunday, July 17-19; Friday: 6pm-12am, Saturday: 1pm-12am, Sunday: 11:30am-8:30pm. Lion Fred Blau Park, 81 E. Main St,. Lake Zurich.

5.) Lake Bluff’ Knauz Auto Park is the place to be for classic cars, hot rods, specialty vehicles and other models pre-1985. The 2015 Knauz Cruise Night, a free admission event, also will feature prizes, BBQ, live  music and so much more. Bring the family and friends out to Knauz.

Friday, July 17; 5-9 p.m. Knauz Auto Park 775 Rockland Rd., Lake Bluff
