Summer is in full swing and there are a ton of things to do this weekend August 12-14, so
Let’s Go to Lake County Next Weekend.
Everyone – including myself – is pretty jazzed up about the Summer Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Continue here to see what Land of Lincoln residents are competing in Rio for the next two weeks.
I’m sure it is starting to become a reality to your kiddies that school is almost back in session. We will have a back to school guide coming your way later this week.
So get out on the town and enjoy the rest of your summer next week. Here are the top things to do this weekend August 12-14.
- Taste of Lincolnshire and the town’s art festival are joining forces this year to bring you the 19th Annual Lincolnshire Arts & Eats Festival. This features all of the eats you love at every year’s Taste, as well as 100 juried artists in this wonderful weekend of bites and sights. The nearly two-decade long fest also features live music kids activities like a scavenger hunt and spin art, interactive art demos and so much more. Attendees of all ages will have the opportunity to contribute to an onsite mural.
Friday-Sunday, August 12-14; Fri. 5-9 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Sun. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Village Green, northeast corner of Milwaukee Avenue and Olde Half Day Road, Lincolnshire.
- The 44th Annual Gurnee Days returns for a three-day extravaganza with the theme, ‘Goes for the Gold.’ While everyone has a little bit of Olympic fever, the ‘Goes for the Gold,’ celebration includes a bicycle rodeo, live entertainment, farmers market, Gurnee Idol, golf tournament, amusement rides, a 10K race, baby contest, rib fest and eating contest, fireworks, a pancake breakfast, parade, car show, petting zoo, pony rides and talent show. The music headliners include Keith Semple Band, R-Gang and Modern Day Romeos.

- Does the equestrian Olympic event make you want to see the horses up close and personal? There is a Tempel Lipizzans performance this weekend. Witness these proud, superior and elegant horses go through the training, battalion formations and movements and the four-horse ballet. You may also meet and greet with the lipizzans and their foals. Get there early to get a bite to eat and see history on the Old Mill Creek farm.

- Tony Bennett is making his way to Ravinia Festival in Highland Park. The 90-year-old legend has released over 70 albums, sold 50 million records worldwide and has won 19 Grammy Awards (including a Lifetime Achievement Award) and two Emmy Awards.
