With all of the fun activities this weekend, we will also see the weather up in the 70s! Sounds like a great weekend to get out in Lake County and experience Spring. Here are the top things to do this weekend April 22-24.

 

  1. It’s the weekend you’ve all Six Flags Great America and Hurricane Harbor 2016been waiting for: Six Flags Great America opens their doors for the summer. Experience the thrills and chills from 14 world-class coasters including the Guinness Book of World Record certified Goliath as the fastest, steepest and tallest wooden roller coaster in the world. Besides all of the exhilarating rides, great eats are available like funnel cakes, cotton candy and more. For this weekend only, the Gurnee amusement park offers their tickets for only $24.99 online.

  1. This weekend we celebrate Mother NatureChicago Botanic Garden - Click to Enlarge as spring blooms its way into Lake County. The Chicago Botanic Garden will host a special guided Earth Day walk through McDonald Woods to learn about a variety of spring wildflowers and the restoration work underway. The walk is free and lasts 45 minutes to an hour.

  1. Every year the James Lumber Center g18th Annual Fear No Art Festival at CLCives us an eye opening from Fear No Art. This year is no different as the Grayslake Art Festival reaches its 18th year at College of Lake County. This lively festival features a variety of artists performing music, dance and poetry. In addition, there will be a stunning display of other art mediums including paintings, photography and sculptures by CLC students and community artists.
Friday-Saturday, April 22-23; Fri 7:30 p.m., Sat 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. General admission $10, CLC students, Senior and JLC Subscribers Admission: $8, Children 12 and under Admission: $3. Main Stage of James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts, 19351 Washington St., Grayslake.
  1. Take the family out for a day of fun as Libertyville High School hosts the Sixth Annual Extreme Block Party. This event will feature 100-plus local vendors, live entertainment, raffle prizes, live reptile show, face painting and so much more. This festive event is for all ages and free of admission.

Lake County Bridal’s Spring Bridal Fair hosted by DoubleTree Mundelein could get you started on planning or assist you in finding everything you need for the special day. Over 50 vendors will be showcasing their products and services. Make sure to RSVP to be entered to win grand prizes. The event is free of admission.
