The artist or band that wins this competition will perform at Mickey Finn’s in Libertyville on May 14. The Ultimate Grand Prize winner, selected by a panel of judges, will also be announced that evening. We will produce a video of their winning song.
Right now we do our I Love Lake County Song Search Spotlight: Rory Tyer Band
Rory Tyer Band was born in the fertile soil of Virginia and now makes their home in and around the concrete of Chicago. They perform acoustic-centric alternative rock with folk influences and are known for engaging songwriting, energetic live performances, and having a great time.
The band just released their album "I Still Find Hope," in late 2014.
Rory Tyer Band has seen several iterations over the past several years. It was first given life as a college trio of djembe, acoustic guitar, and cello.
Today, Rory Tyer Band represents an amazingly fun & upbeat blend of acoustic rock, folk, and progressive songwriting. Think Dave Matthews Band meets Third Eye Blind meets Ray Lamontagne.
The Lake County band of Libertyville consists of Brian Herman on cello, aux percussion and vocals, Rory Tyer at acoustic guitars, singing and song writing, Danny Olmeda on bass and vocals, Dave Bedell on drums, Dave Verlee on electric guitar, piano and vocals and Dave DeRose on keys and vocals.
