Farm to Table to Stable
Let the ride take you...

This itinerary suggests:

Nestled among restored prairie land and forest preserves, Radical Root is a 150-year-old farm owned by a conservation organization. They grow certified-organic vegetables and raise happy, pastured animals in the most ecological way possible. Take a one-hour walking tour of the farm, gardens, meet the chickens and pigs and see the honeybee hives

Optional presentation on "culinary herbalism," is available. We offer a rare opportunity for your group to dine on a farm-to-table meal created with Ad-Lib Geocafe produce and meats.

More local active groups will want to head to our premier forest preserve - Independence Grove. This quarry turned into walking trails, 115-acre lake and woodlands is the perfect place for personal recreation.

Those who like history will enjoy a tour of the Ansel B. Cook Mansion (1878) and Rose Garden located in the center of Libertyville. Inside is the "Brides of Yester-Year" - wedding dresses of the past. The dresses are as varied as the women who wore them and each dress reflects the fashion and spirit of the times in which it was worn. Take some time to stroll MainStreet Libertyville for unique boutiques.

Just a short walk nearby is Mickey Finn's Restaurant and our oldest brewer. Order a beer flight sampler for everyone or stay for a pub-style dinner.

Check into the Hampton Inn & Suites Libertyville where the staff will take excellent care of you! We will have already arranged for your evening's entertainment ranging from our longest running summer option - Ravinia Festival, a Broadway musical at the Marriott Theatre, concert at the Genesee Theatre or play at the Citadel Theatre.

After a good night's sleep and hearty breakfast, visit Lambs Farm. For over 50 years, Lambs has been a place to grow through enriching experiences working with people with developmental disabilities. Staff will greet you at the Visitor Center and then your group is free to visit the Dogwood Pet & Garden Center, Cedar Chest Thrift Shop and Sugar Maple Country Store, all which help support Lambs' mission.

Delicious group lunches are available at the Magnolia Cafe and Bakery. Don't forget to pick up those famous Lambs Farm butter cookies to take home, all homemade by Lambs residents!
